Nathaniel Loring writes regarding the case of John J. Jackson at West Point in 1817; Colonel Thayer did not instruct the cadets in military duty until the winter of 1819; discusses his thoughts of Sylvanus Thayer's tenure at West Point and his vengeance toward himself as a friend of Partridge.
